Ten-character numeric serials with a valid year/month prefix.
Goodman serial number lookup
Enter the complete serial from your Goodman equipment label to estimate its manufacture month, year and age. This lookup supports the ten-digit numeric format.
This rule is not applied to shorter entries or nonstandard factory codes.
Goodman serial formats and examples
The first two digits identify the year and the next two identify the month. The final six identify the unit; they do not provide an installation date.
Does your serial match the supported format?
| Serial or label | What this tool supports | Your next step |
|---|---|---|
| Ten digits: YYMM followed by six digits | Supported when the month is 01 to 12 and the date is plausible. | Enter the complete number, including leading zeros. |
| Letter-prefixed, short or other serial | No automatic date from this lookup. | Keep the model and full serial together and use Goodman's official lookup. |
| PTAC, component or replacement-part label | Do not assume the unit's date rule applies. | Find the equipment rating plate. Ask support to verify a product-specific code. |
Worked date-code examples
These examples illustrate the format. They are not records for your equipment.
1306123456June 2013
13 is the year, 06 is the month. The remaining six digits distinguish this example unit.
1908123456August 2019
19 is the year and 08 is August. Read year first, then month.
1313123456No date: check the month
The month field is 13, outside 01 to 12. Recheck the equipment serial row. The tool does not change the digits to force a date.
2803123456No automatic century choice
At the October 2026 reference check, 28 would mean a future year in the 2000s. The tool asks for evidence of the full year instead of calling this March 1928.
How the full year is established
A two-digit year does not identify a century. Ordinary supported results use a 2000s interpretation. If that would be in the future, the tool returns no date and asks for a full manufacture year from your records. It does not silently subtract 100 years. A Goodman date before 1982 needs manufacturer verification.
A serial-format match is an estimate. It does not establish installation date, warranty coverage, equipment condition or remaining life.
If the number does not match
- Check the row marked Serial or S/N. The model number describes a product, rather than its manufacture date.
- Copy every character, including leading zeros. Spaces and dashes can stay; do not add or rearrange digits to make a match.
- Use the equipment rating plate, rather than the label on a replacement board or compressor. Ask a technician for a label photo if access requires removing a service panel.
- Keep the model and serial together and verify with Goodman.
Goodman age lookup questions
How do I find a Goodman furnace or AC's age?
Use the unit's rating plate, not a control-board or compressor label. For the supported ten-digit numeric serial, digits 1 and 2 are the year and digits 3 and 4 are the month. Enter the complete serial above for an estimated manufacture date and age.
Does this also decode every Goodman or Amana PTAC?
No. This page checks the stated Goodman numeric format. A packaged terminal unit, component or another product category may need a different reference. Use its full model and serial with the manufacturer rather than editing the number to fit.
Is the manufacture month the installation date?
No. Equipment can be installed after it was manufactured. Use the installation invoice or manufacturer record for the installation date and verify warranty coverage separately.
What if the result looks too old or too new?
Check the complete number and confirm that it came from the equipment's serial row. Ordinary results use a 2000s interpretation. If that reading would be in the future, no date is returned. Supply a full manufacture year only from the label, manufacturer record or paperwork, or ask Goodman to confirm it. An installation year is not a manufacture year.
References and verification
Date-code references checked October 5 and 6, 2026; year-handling reviewed October 7. These documents explain particular formats; they do not confirm your unit's record.
- Goodman manufacture-date explanation
The SSX14/SSX16/SSZ14/SSZ16 warranty document explains the YYMM prefix and its June 2013 example. It is not a universal reference for other products or current warranty terms.
- Goodman equipment history
Goodman dates entry into central AC and heat-pump manufacturing to 1982. This boundary is not applied to other brands that share a date-code pattern.
